2022 – 2023 SEASON

Saturday, September 3, 2022: 12 noon – 2 pm at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center Stage; MUSIC FOR ALL concert by Kisa Uradomo String Quartet and Friends with the EXPOSURE opportunity for KEIKI TO KUPUNA to try the violin, viola, cello and bass.

philharmonic orchestra

There will be no audition for entrance into the Philharmonic Orchestra for 2022. First rehearsal will be Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 9 AM – 11 AM at the Iao School Band Room. In lieu of auditions, we will be asking for a teacher recommendation to confirm the following:

PREREQUISITE for Philharmonic Orchestra: Students must be able to read notes fluently. 

Teacher recommendations should include a confirmation of the following:

  • The student has had a minimum of 3 years of experience playing their instrument with either private instruction, group instruction, or both.
  • String students should be able to play 2-octave scales and arpeggios in the keys of G, D, A, Bb, and Eb.
  • Violinists interested in playing Violin I should be able to play 2-octave scales and arpeggios as previously noted and 3-octave scales and arpeggios in G, A, and Bb.

BEGINNING STRINGS

Beginning String Classes for violin, viola and cello, will begin on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the MYPO Studio in the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center. More information will be forthcoming.
